The International Architecture Awards (IAA) honor the best, significant new buildings, landscape architecture, and planning projects designed and built around the world from leading architects. The identity for the 2018 IAA and accompanying exhibition “The City and The World” was inspired by the architectural movement of deconstructuvism. Twisted, distorted yet aligned typographic elements serve as key objects providing unusual shape and confused perspective. Standard vector shapes fill in the synthesis and make contrast with the rest of transformations in order to achieve balance with the surrounded aesthetics. Identity was deployed in all promotional materials, the annual catalogue and online applications.
